Gonzaga Athletic Hall of Fame
Ed Justice was one of the superlative players who helped make Gonzaga University football synonymous with excellence. After starring in high school in Clarkston, Wash., Justice was an outstanding performer for the Mike Pecarovich-coached Gonzaga teams of the early 1930s. He was selected to play for the West in the 1936 Shrine Game and was chosen as his squad’s best blocking back and best defensive back. He spent seven seasons in the National Football League, 1936-1942, as a receiver and defensive back with the Washington Redskins as that team won four divisional championships and two NFL crowns, in 1937 and 1942. Justice caught the winning touchdown pass from Sammy Baugh against Chicago in the 1937 championship game and was named to the 1942 NFL Pro Bowl. As a Spokane businessman, he was a longtime American Legion Baseball sponsor. He was name to the Inland Empire Sports Hall of Fame in 1987.
