Gonzaga Prep High School: Played first base and pitcher for four years for the Bullpups…earned First Team All-State as a senior…also played football for four years, earning First Team All-Greater Spokane League as a linebacker senior year.
Personal: Full name Steven Machtolf, but goes by Steve…Parents are Sheila and Mark (head coach of GU baseball)…has two brothers: David and Jack…father played baseball and football at Stanford, uncle David played football at Notre Dame, and brother David played baseball at Gonzaga for two years…majoring in sport management…wants to become a firefighter after graduation…chose Gonzaga because it was close to home, had a great community, and an opportunity to play for his dad.
