SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga University (2-1-1) dominated Northwest University (WA) (0-3-0) with a decisive 7-0 victory on Sunday at Luger Field. The Bulldogs' offense fired 42 shots, setting a new single-game record for most shots taken, breaking the previous record of 35 set against MSU Billings in 1999. With 20 of those shots on target, their defense secured a shutout, allowing only one shot on goal. This match also marked the first time since 1999 that Gonzaga had scored at least seven goals in a regular-season game, a feat last achieved when the Zags scored eight against Montana State Billings.

Carson Hammond scored a goal and took two shots on target, contributing significantly to the team's offensive efforts. Damoni McKenna finished the game with one goal and one assist, displaying versatility in both scoring and playmaking. Drew Pedersen tallied one goal and one assist, taking nine shots with five on target, showing his active presence in the attack. Dashiell Stein made a strong impact with two goals and one assist, converting four out of his six shots on target.

The match began with GU demonstrating early dominance, taking numerous attempts on goal. Despite persistent saves by Northwest's goalkeeper, Bailey Hopkins, GU broke the deadlock at the 22:20 mark with a goal by Nicolas Golesis, assisted by Pedersen, giving them the initial lead. Just minutes later, at 27:29, Hammond extended the lead to 2-0 with a goal assisted by Dylan Cantafio. The first period concluded with the Zags ahead 2-0.

GU dominated the second period, extending its lead with a series of decisive plays. McKenna scored the first goal of the period at 56:29, with an assist from Morgan Olson, setting the tone for GU's aggressive offense. Stein added another goal at 65:58, assisted by McKenna, further increasing the home team's advantage.

The Bulldogs continued their offensive momentum when Pedersen capitalized on a penalty kick at 71:53. Stein scored again at 77:38, assisted by Jackson Farrell, and Chase Potter sealed the match with a goal at 81:07, assisted by Stein. The period concluded with GU's commanding 7-0 victory, marking the end of the match.
