
Carson Hammond Named Pac-12 Newcomer of the Week

SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga men's soccer defender Carson Hammond was named the Pac-12 Newcomer of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Hammond recorded five points on two goals and one assist while helping the Bulldogs earn a pair of victories over Utah Tech and Northwest (WA).
The senior found the back of the net in Gonzaga's 3-0 shutout victory over Utah Tech on Thursday at Luger Field. He followed with another strong performance Sunday against Northwest (WA), recording a goal and an assist in the Bulldogs' 7-0 win.
Hammond helped Gonzaga outscore its opponents 10-0 over the two matches as the Bulldogs improved to 2-1-1 on the season.
Oregon State's Max Eisenberg was named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week, while UC San Diego goalkeeper Nic Thiele earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Gonzaga returns to action Friday, Sept. 4, when the Bulldogs travel to Omaha, Neb., to take on Creighton.
