
Sweum, Bell named to ABCA/Rawlings All-West Second Team

SPOKANE, Wash.- Karsten Sweum and Mikey Bell were recognized by the American Baseball Coaches Association as top players in the West, earning second team All-West region honors on Tuesday.
Karsten Sweum, the 2026 WCC Pitcher of the Year, receives his first ABCA/Rawlings All-West honors after a strong sophomore season. He threw 110 strikeouts, the 28th most by any pitcher in Division 1 baseball. He threw the sixth no-hitter in program history on May 9th against San Francisco, striking out 15 batters on just 93 pitches. His 15 strikeouts tied for the second most in a single game by a Gonzaga pitcher in program history. Sweum had the best ERA of any pitcher in conference play, posting a 2.62 ERA in regular season WCC action, where he was the only pitcher with a batting average against below .200, with opposing batters hitting just .198 against the left hander.
Mikey Bell repeats with his second ABCA/Rawlings All-West Second Team honor in as many years. Bell also repeated as the WCC Player of the Year for the second year in a row, after putting up a .430 batting average in conference games. Bell had a 1.197 OPS in WCC games, putting up 23 extra base hits and 87 total bases in just 27 games in conference play. He finished the year with a .396 batting average while starting all 53 games this season. He finished the year with the fifth most doubles of any Division 1 Baseball player with 24. He had 85 hits, 25th most in Division 1 baseball this season and ninth most in a single season in program history. Bell's career batting average of .369 at Gonzaga is the eighth highest in GU history and second highest for a Zag since 2000.
