Jared Hertz named College Baseball Foundation Trustee

Hertz to help handpick Hall of Fame

OVERLAND PARK, KS.- Gonzaga Baseball alum and current Gonzaga Senior Associate Athletics Director Jared Hertz has been named to Board of Trustees for the College Baseball Foundation (CBF).

The CBF is the parent organization of the College Baseball Hall of Fame. Hertz will serve as one of 20 trustees that present annual player and coach awards in addition to selecting and inducting a new class of Hall of Fame honorees each year. A former Gonzaga student athlete, Hertz will add the responsibility of leading the college game and selecting the enshrinement of college baseball icons into his current role in driving forward Gonzaga Athletics. He currently serves as a Senior Associate Athletic Director for Major Gifts.

Hertz will be joining the Board alongside Pepperdine vice chancellor Jim Merritt. "We are excited to welcome these outstanding individuals to become members of the Board of Trustees," CBF CEO and Executive Director Tom Jacobs said. "Each of them bring outstanding energy and passion for the great sport of college baseball and have a collective history of connectivity to the sport, both of them having played at the collegiate level and now working in higher education."

Now tasked with supporting the history and the future of the sport, Hertz made his mark as both a player and a student while at Gonzaga from 1999-2001. He was a two-time Academic All-American, earning Third-Team honors in 2000 and First-Team honors in 2001.  On the field, he was named a First-Team All-West Coast Conference honoree and was named the Gonzaga Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2001. He graduated undergrad at GU with Summa Cum Laude distinction before returning to complete an MBA at Gonzaga.
