
BSB: Brett Harris Named CoSIDA Academic All-American

Gonzaga's Brett Harris added yet another accolade to a growing collection on Thursday, making the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Third Team in recognition of his efforts in the classroom.
One of 33 players nationwide to be named an Academic All-American, Harris graduated from Gonzaga in May with a bachelor's degree in Special Education and a cumulative 3.49 GPA. He becomes the seventh Zag to be named an Academic All-American and the first to do so since Taylor Jones made the Third Team in 2016.
The third baseman was named WCC Defensive Player of the Year after a season with with 58 putouts and 77 assists on 138 total chances while turning three double plays, but also led the Bulldogs in nearly every offensive category this spring, including batting average (.358), OPS (1.039), runs (50) and hits (67).
His role in a breakout year for the Bulldogs that culminated in a program-best No. 2 seed in a Regional appearance and a bevy of individual honors, including appearances on the ABCA/Rawlings All-West Region Team, Collegiate Baseball's All-American Third Team, and the 2021 Senior CLASS Award Second Team. The Arlington Heights, Ill. native was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the Seventh Round of the MLB Draft on July 12.
