GU held UP scoreless in second half, but couldn’t overcome deficit
PORTLAND — Gonzaga men's soccer went down 3-0 on the road at Portland on Wednesday night in West Coast Conference play.
The Pilots (8-5-1, 2-2-0) got off to a hot start in the first half, getting all three goals, while Gonzaga (3-9-1, 2-2-0) regrouped to hold UP scoreless in the second half.
Portland scored in the 15th minute to take the lead for good, before adding goals in the 34th and 40th minute to put it out of reach.
Gonzaga goal keeper Johan Garibay made five saves on the night, while GU was outshot 21-3 on the game and 8-1 in shots on goal.
GU will be back at home for its next match, taking on No. 11 Saint Mary's on Saturday night at 7 p.m. at Luger Field. Check GoZags.com for links to live coverage.
