Brennan Named to Academic All-District VIII Team

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University junior outfielder Jackson Brennan has been named to the ESPN The Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America All-Academic All-District VIII team released earlier today. Brennan was a first-team selection. The junior has helped the Gonzaga baseball team (26-20, 13-10 West Coast Conference) move into a tie for first place in the WCC Coast Division with the University of San Diego.
Brennan was named to the All-District VIII first-team with a 3.65 GPA in applied communications. The junior from Castle Rock, Colo., is currently batting .313 with 25 hits, six doubles, two home runs and eight RBI.
Brennan will now be placed on the Academic All-American ballot with the first-team members from all eight CoSIDA Districts. The Academic All-America team will be announced on Tuesday, May 31.
Joining Brennan on the first-team were Erik Averill of Arizona State University, John Meloan of the University of Arizona, Mitch Canham of Oregon State University, Matt Einspahr of the University of California, Berkeley, Billy Hart of the University of Southern California, Steve Kleen of Pepperdine University, Chris Minaker of Stanford University, Travis Buck of Arizona State, Kory Knell of Brigham Young University and Gregg Wallis of the University of California, Irvine.
Brennan and the Bulldogs will return to action this weekend with a three-game WCC series against Saint Mary's College. Friday's game will begin at 3 p.m. and both Saturday's and Sunday's games are scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
