Zags shut down Cal State Fullerton in home sweep

Spokane, Wash.- Gonzaga Volleyball (2-2) held Cal State Fullerton (1-3) to 20 points or less in every set of a sweep on Thursday. The Zags won the sets by scores of 25-16, 25-20, and 25-14. Gonzaga never trailed at any point of the game after the first point of any set.
GU held Fullerton to just a .076 hitting percentage. The Zags hit for a .333 percentage, shutting down the third set behind a very efficient .469 hitting percentage. GU won the day behind a collective effort, as five different players had five or more kills.
Cal State Fullerton hit for just .029 percent in the first set as the Zags blew them away in the first set. Gonzaga cruised through the second with similar ease as Fullerton hit for just a .067 hitting rate in the second night.
Gonzaga took off in the third set behind a quick 6-1 run, forcing a fast CSUF timeout and putting up an insurmountable lead. Six different Zags had an assist in the team effort tonight, as Dani Clewis lead the team with 28. GU had a 80% sideout success rate in the final frame to secure the win easily.
Gonzaga will return to the court in the Martin Centre tomorrow when they host Oral Roberts in the first ever meeting between the programs. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
