QUICK KICKS:
- Gonzaga opens its 29th season of women's soccer in the program's first-ever meeting with Texas.
- The Zags were selected fifth in the West Coast Conference's preseason poll as voted by the league's head coaches. It's the best ranking for GU in the WCC preseason poll since 2006, when the Bulldogs were tabbed third, which was the highest position in the poll in program history.
- Gonzaga's upcoming slate features 20 matches in the regular season. GU's 2019 schedule features seven teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
- The Zags are 0-3-1 all-time against current members from the Big 12 Conference. Last season, Gonzaga and Oklahoma played to a 1-1 draw in Norman, Okla.

SCOUTING THE LONGHORNS:
- Friday will be the season-opener for Texas as well. The Longhorns beat Air Force, 5-0, in an exhibition at home last Friday.
- Four different Longhorns found the scoring column led by a brace (two goals) from Haley Berg. All-American forward Cyera Hintzen added a goal and two assists.
- Texas out-shot Air Force by a total of 19-11, including 11-6 in shots on goal.
- Savannah Madden (two saves) and Nicole Curry (four saves) each played 45 minutes in goal for Texas.
- Four Longhorns were named preseason All-Big 12, and Texas was picked third in the league's preseason poll.
OUT OF THE GATES:
- Gonzaga has won 12 of its 28 all-time season-openers.
- The Zags are unbeaten in their last seven season-openers, dating back to a 5-1 loss at Illinois in 2011.
- The Bulldogs have also won eight of its last 10 season-opening contests, including last year's 2-1 double-overtime home win over Grand Canyon.
JENCKS NAMED PRESEASON ALL-WCC:
- India Jencks was named to the West Coast Conference Preseason Team.
- Jencks was named second team All-West Coast Conference following last season. She was named honorable mention All-WCC as a sophomore.
