Bulldogs in search of their first conference win
SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga volleyball team returns home this week to host Saint Mary's (Oct. 10) and Pacific (Oct. 12) inside the Martin Centre.

vs. Saint Mary's | 66th meeting
Overall: 28-37 | Home: 16-16 | Away: 12-21 | Streak: Gonzaga, won 1
The series dates back to 1986 when Gonzaga and Saint Mary's met for the first time in conference play. GU won each of the first five meetings and controlled the series for much of the 1990s. From 2000 to the first part of 2014, GU won just four matches against the Gaels, but since 2014, GU has recorded six wins.
vs. Pacific | 15th meeting
Overall: 3-11 | Home: 3-3 | Away: 0-7 | Streak: Pacific, won 3
Pacific has controlled the overall series, earning wins in the first six meetings. Gonzaga snapped Pacific's win streak in the series with a 3-1 victory over the Tigers in 2015. Since that win, the Bulldogs have tallied two more wins in the series, with the last win coming with a five-set victory in 2017.
SCOUTING THE GAELS:
- Saint Mary's carries a 4-10 overall mark on the season with a winless 0-4 record in West Coast Conference play.
- Currently, SMC is on a six-match losing streak dating back to Sept. 19 when the Gaels fell in three sets at No. 24 California.
- Through 14 matches, the Gaels average 11.52 kills per set hitting .188 to go along with 10.65 assists, 12.52 digs and 2.10 blocks per set.
- Ashley Breyan leads the attack with 3.13 kills per set hitting .174; both Elena Baka and Sienna Young average over two kills a set with 2.87 and 2.28 kills per set, respectively.
- Kelsey Knudsen leads the defensive effort with a team-high 3.38 digs per set while Aubrey Pitts leads the effort at the net with 1.27 blocks per set.
- SMC has fallen to Pacific, Santa Clara, BYU and San Diego to open conference play.
ROSTER BREAKDOWN ON PACIFIC:
- Pacific carries a 10-6 overall mark on the season with an even 2-2 start to the season. The Tigers won their conference-opening matches against Saint Mary's and San Francisco before falling to BYU and San Diego.
- As a squad, Pacific averages 13.2 kills per set hitting .192 to go along with 12.2 assists per set, 14.4 digs per set and 1.4 blocks per set.
- Riley Patterson leads the attack with 3.45 kills per set hitting .159. Allison Dennemann ranks second on the squad with 3.08 kills per set hitting .195.
- Gabby Leo leads the Tigers with 6.09 assists per set, while Jadyn Tubbs leads the defensive effort with 4.33 digs per set.
