Prior to Gonzaga
Schwartz will join the Zags after placing third at the 6A-6 CVC District Championships for West Salem HS in 2022, and 55th at the state meet two weeks later when West Salem placed third as a team. In his second straight appearance at the NXR Northwest Regional, Schwartz made a 39-spot improvement, placing 54th after a 93rd place finish in 2021. On the track, Schwartz earned All-American honors at Nike Outdoor Nationals, competing in both the 2K steeplechase and 4000m DMR. He graduated from West Salem after four years on the honor roll with a 4.20 weighted GPA.
