
Women's Cross Country picks up ranked win at Nuttycombe

MADISON, Wisconsin- Gonzaga Cross Country acquitted themselves well on the national stage on Friday, with the women's cross country team picking up a win over a ranked team at the historic Nuttycombe Invitational.
Gonzaga Women's Cross Country finished 23rd overall at Nuttycombe, beating #30 Boise State by 11 points. The GU women's cross country team also finished three places ahead of a Michigan State team that received votes in the most recent USTFCCCA poll. The men's cross country team finished 33rd while beating Lipscomb and Oklahoma.
The women's team was led by a 68th overall finish by Sloan Dickson, who had a final 6k time of 20:31.2 on a difficult course. Dickson moved up seventy spots in the final standings between the first two kilometers and the finish line. Audrey Orme finished as the second Zag across the line, joining her fellow freshman with a 20:43.5 finish. Maria Taggi Padro and Emma Taggi Padro finished within five second of each other, as the sisters had respective times of 21:00.5 and 21:04.7. Charlotte Dillon finished the scoring with a final time of 21:26.8
Logan Law had a strong 38th overall finish in the crowded field, running an 8k time of 23:21.5 as he continues to strengthen his case as a top national runner. Dylan Rowell finished with a time of 23:59.1, as the freshman was the second Bulldog across the line. Ryan Mitchell finished in 24:24.4, while Aiden Miller had a strong finish in his second collegiate meet with a 24:32.4 finish. Logan Schwartz closed out the scoring five runners in 24:52.3.
Gonzaga Cross Country returns to the course next week, when the Zags travel to Lewiston, Idaho to compete in the Inland Empire Classic on October 17th.
