Women's Cross Country raising awareness of student-athlete mental health
The Women's Cross Country team will be wearing white and green ribbons when they take the course at the Tyson Invitational, doing so to bring attention to Student-Athlete Mental Health Month. White and green are the official colors for mental health awareness, with the Zags wearing the ribbons to start conversations around mental health while bringing awareness to campus mental health resources available to students as well as avenues for support for student athletes.
"We have really emphasized mental health this season and made it an important building block of our development process. This is something that is really important as student-athletes and is always at the forefront of our minds as coaches" Women's Cross Country interim head coach McKenna Hansen said about raising awareness for mental health support for student athletes. Gonzaga Cross Country will continue to raise awareness of student-athlete mental health throughout the year while working with the Gonzaga Student Athlete Advistory Committe, where GU runners Alex Gaskin and Tommy O'Neil serve as co-chairs for Student Athlete Wellness.Â
