Snorsky scores fifth goal of season in 42nd minute
SEATTLE – Gonzaga women's soccer played to a 1-1 draw at No. 11 Washington Thursday.
The Zags (2-2-1) picked up a positive result early in the season, while the Huskies remained unbeaten after scoring the equalizer in the 66th minute by Ava Morton. Washington outshot Gonzaga 15-5, including 6-3 on goal. The Bulldog defense held the Husky attack to one goal, while Gonzaga capitalized on one of its few chances.
The Zags' Samantha Snorsky scored a goal for the third straight match, and fifth in the first five games of the season. She matches teammate Amelia Severn for the most goals currently in the Pac-12 Conference this season.
Snorsky's sixth career goal came in the 42nd minute from an assist from Shila Rasoul. Snorsky took a team-high three shots, while Severn's two shots were both on frame. Snorsky and Severn are also first and second in the conference in shots (19 and 17) and shots on goal (13 and 12).
Sydney Head, who tops the Pac-12 with 23 saves, made five stops for GU against Washington. Tanner Ijams had two saves for the 11th-ranked Huskies.
The Bulldogs last draw or win over a ranked team was a 1-0 home victory over No. 15 Santa Clara on Oct. 29, 2023. The last draw or win against a team ranked as high as No. 11 Washington, was a 1-1 tie against No. 11 Pepperdine in Spokane in 2014.
Gonzaga is at Seattle University (1-1-2) at 4 p.m. Sunday. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN Plus, with live stats available on GoZags.com.
