SPOKANE, Wash. – Nine Gonzaga Track & Field athletes were recognized as All-Academic honorees by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Both programs were names as All-Academic Team award winners. This marks the 13th straight year that both Zag running programs have been recognized as All-Academic Teams.
Cooper Laird earned individual All-Academic honors for the third season in a row, while Willow Collins, Jessica Frydenlund, and Wil Smith earned the All-Academic award for the second year in a row. Ellie Armbruster, Alexi Fogo, Logan Hofstee, Sean Janecko, and Paul Talens all earned the recognition for the first time in their career.
The GU Men's Track & Field team have the 40th highest GPA in Division 1, sporting an average team GPA of 3.42. The Women's Track & Field team had a 3.49 average GPA, placing them in the top 100 in Division 1.
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, an individual must maintain at least a 3.25 GPA while either placing in the top 96 in any indoor event or running in any round of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship.
