
Zags and Duong Place Second in Sedona

Gonzaga tied for first, but finished second after tiebreaker
SEDONA, Ariz. — The Gonzaga women's golf team tied for first place with Grand Canyon, before finishing in second after a tiebreaker, at the Red Rocks Invitational at the Oakcreek Country Club hosted by Northern Arizona University.
The Zags' final round total of 286 is a new tournament record, and ties the fifth-lowest round score in program history. GU finished the tournament at 20-over (884).
Grand Canyon and Gonzaga tied for first, but Grand Canyon was named the team champion per tournament rules. The tiebreaker was the fifth player's score (GCU's fifth player was +9 Sunday, while Gonzaga's fifth player was +10).
The Bulldogs' Quynn Duong finished the tournament in second place after scoring a team low two-under (214). Duong ended the three rounds tied for second in birdies in the tournament, making 11 across the event. The junior also led the Bulldogs, and placed second in the invitational, in average Par-4 scoring at 4.03 (+1).
Cassie Kim ended the three rounds tied for eighth with 221 (+5). Kim had 10 birdies throughout the tournament, tying her for fifth best.
Jessica Mangrobang finished at nine-over (225) and tied for 14th place. Mangrobang led the Zags in pars made with 36, putting her tied for fifth at the invitational.
Federica Torre tied for 27th at 14-over (230). Torre was the frontrunner for the Bulldogs in average Par-3 scoring with a 3.08 (+1), tying her for ninth place. Alyssa Ngyuen tied for 56th with a 237 (+21).
Individually, Payton Fehringer of GCU finished on top of the leaderboard with an eight-under (208) performance.
The Bulldogs will be back in action on April 5, at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic, hosted by the University of Wyoming. Live scoring will be available on GoZags.com.
