Zags outshot Pacific 20-12 in setback
STOCKTON, Calif. — Pacific used a pair of first half goals over a five-minute span to pick up a 2-1 win over Gonzaga women's soccer Wednesday.
The Tigers (10-3-2, 2-2-1 West Coast Conference) reached the 10-win mark with the victory, despite being outshot 20-12 by GU. The Bulldogs (11-5-0, 1-4-0 WCC), who controlled 54 percent of the possession, had a 14-5 advantage in shots on goal.
The match's three goals came in a 10-minute span midway through the first half. Erin Healy scored her sixth goal of the season for the Zags in the 26th minute. Willow Collins was credited with her fourth assist of the season on the score.
Less than five minutes later, Pacific's Jade Enalen found the back of the net for the third time this season off an assist from Abigail Wolf. Jenae Packard and Camryn Scully assisted on the game-winning goal in the 35th minute, finding Lauren Frohan for the score. It was Frohan's second goal this season.
Gonzaga took six of the game's seven corner kicks. Four of Maddie Kemp's match-high six shots were on frame. The Bulldogs forced Pacific's Brenna Crump into 13 saves, while Lyza Bosselmann had three for GU.
The Zags honor four seniors against San Diego Saturday at Luger Field. Gonzaga is one victory away from matching the program's record for wins a single season. The Toreros (6-8-0, 1-4-0) fell at Portland Thursday, 4-1. USD and the Bulldogs are scheduled for a 3 p.m. start, with live video and stats on GoZags.com.
