THE TOURNAMENT:
- The 54-hole, two-day event features 36 holes on Monday beginning at 8 a.m. and the final 18 holes on Tuesday beginning at 7:45 a.m.
- Gonzaga will be joined by host Washington State, BYU, Cal, Colorado, Colorado State, Denver, Idaho, New Mexico, Oregon, Oregon State, Pepperdine, San Francisco, Seattle U, and Washington.
SOPHOMORE STARS
- Quynn Duong and Federica Torre put up great results in their opening seasons at GU in 2018-19.
- Duong had four Top-5 finishes (with three runner-ups) in nine career tournaments.
- Duong also placed sixth at the WCC Championships and led the team with a 72.85 stroke average.
- Torre, who joined the team for the spring semester, was second on the squad with a 74.27 stroke average and finished inside the Top 30 at each of her five tournaments.
SENIOR LEADER
- Senior Jessica Mangrobang had 10 of her 13 best rounds of the season during the spring, including a career-best 69 in the second round of the Red Rocks Invitational.
- Mangrobang was third on the team with a 75.41 stroke average and was inside the Top 20 each of the last four tournaments of the spring.
NEWCOMERS, NEW TALENT
- Gonzaga added freshman standouts Cassie Kim and Alyssa Nguyen to the mix for the season.
- Both players had fantastic junior and prep careers with Kim winning the Girls Junior Americas Cup and the PNW Junior PGA this summer.
- Nguyen comes in as a five-time district winner in the WJGA and three-time top-three finisher at the state tournament.
NEXT UP
- After the WSU Cougar Cup, GU then returns home for the highlight of the fall season: hosting the Coeur d'Alene Resort Collegiate Invitational, September 23-25, at the Coeur d'Alene Resort for the third straight year.
