
Zags Collect Wins on Day 2 of WAR 12

Track battles competition and weather at SFCC
SPOKANE, Wash. — In cold and rainy conditions at Spokane Falls Community College, the Gonzaga women's and men's track programs raced to solid finishes despite the weather Saturday.
In the men's 800 meters, Brandon Pollard crossed the line in first at 1:53.20. He was followed by Scott Kopczynski's 1:56.44 eighth place finish.
Alex Walde held off teammate Ben Hogan for the 3,000-meter steeplechase title. Walde finished at 9:31.85, while Hogan's second-place time was 9:40.94.
Seven Zags placed inside the Top 10 in the men's 1,500 meters led by a third place finish from Mason Villarma. His time of 3:54.31 was just ahead of teammate Jake Perrin's 3:54.70 fourth place finish. Andrew Gardner was fifth with a time of 3:55.56.
In the women's 1,500 meters, Lauren Haas was 11th at 5:00.66.
Morgan Greene won her heat and placed eighth in the women's 800 meters. She finished with a time of 2:20.95. Samantha Vowles was second in her heat of the women's 400 meters, placing 11th at 1:03.66.
Gonzaga makes the short trek to Cheney, Wash., for the Pelluer Invitational next Saturday. Running events begin at 1 p.m.
