First GU event-Men's mile at 11 a.m.
D1 Invitational Team Challenge: Idaho, Montana, Eastern Washington, Portland State and Gonzaga are schools that will be present.
Last year at the meet: Cullen McEachern took the men's 3000-meter title … McEachern (8:44.16) and Dominic Arce (8:50.33) took over the lead for most of the second half of the race, before McEachern pulled away with a big win … Will Thompson (8:50.41) closed hard for fourth, as Arce held on for third in a near photo finish … In the first heat of the men's mile, Alex Heffelfinger led most of the race before crossing the line at 4:19.60 for the win … Nathan Vanos (4:23.02) and Phillip Fishburn (4:23.80) placed third and fourth … The Zags placed four runners in the top seven of the second heat of the mile … Jonah Sandoval (4:19.3), Ben Hogan (4:20.03), Luke Mason (4:20.29) and Yacine Guermali (4:20.71) were fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh … Claire Gillett ran a personal record to place first in her heat of the women's 800 meters with a time of 2:22.97 … Sarah Hawley (2:27.52) and Rachel Hansen (2:29.50) also ran PR's in the event … The GU women's 4x400-meter relay team of Brianna Vasquez, Gillett, Hawley and Hansen completed the day with a second place finish at 4:11.47.
Last week: At the UW Invitational, the Zags had school records broken and personal records set…Jake Perrin broke the program's indoor 5,000-meter record at 14:15.36…Peter Hogan placed fourth in his heat with a time of 14:27.56, third all time… Kyle Thompson, Jonah Sandoval, Sammy Truax and Graham Wendle set a new program distance medley relay record… Yacine Guermali's 8:06.06 3,000-meter finish moved him to No. 3 all-time in program history… Ben Hogan crossed the line with a personal record of 8:18.38…In the men's mile, Brandon Pollard ran a 4:05.62, while Scott Kopczynski finished at 4:09.95, Pollard placed fifth in the second heat and Kopczynski was ninth. For the women, Claire Manley crossed the line at 17:52.97 in the women's 5,000 meters.
