WEST COAST CONFERENCE ACTION:
- Gonzaga dropped its WCC opener in heart-breaking fashion against one of the best teams in the country in then-No. 11 Portland, 3-2. GU held a 2-0 lead just 12 minutes into the game, but the Pilots pulled within 2-1 in the first half, and then scored a pair of second half goals to win.
- The Zags have played overtime games against San Diego each of the last two seasons, trading victories. GU won 3-2 in 2016, and lost 2-1 last season on the road.
- Each of the last three meetings between GU and LMU have come down to one goal, but Gonzaga has been on the losing side each time.
OFFENSE STRENGTHENING:
- Freshman Demetrius Kigeya leads the way for the Zags with eight points on a team-high four goals, which is also tied for the fourth-highest total in the league. He also has team-highs in shots (22) and shots on goal (13).
- Jake Kempf notched his second goal of the season against Portland on Oct. 6. His two scores have come on just four shots on goal.
- Quinn Liebmann, Austin Giftopoulos, Theo O'Malley, Chris Geanon and Joe Corner have each scored for the Zags this season as well. Liebmann has a pair of assists to go along with his goal for a total of four points.
- GU has scored five goals in the last three games, including a 2-1 win at Sacramento State, with goals from Liebmann in the 48th minute and the game winner from Kigeya in the 86th minute.
WILLIS IN NET:
- Gonzaga redshirt senior goalkeeper Ben Willis has added to his impressive career so far this season. He leads the conference in saves per game at 4.73 per contest.
- Willis' league-leading 52 saves is 10 more than any of his WCC counterparts.
LOADED SCHEDULE:
- The Gonzaga men's soccer schedule has quickly becoming one of the toughest in the country including last Saturday's match against then-No. 11 Portland.
- They played then-No. 3 Washington on Labor Day and on Friday hosted then-No. 17 UC Davis.
