Dojcak, Pineda Earn Singles Victories

Roman Dojcak and Marco Antonio Pineda both posted singles victories Tuesday, but it wasn't enough as the Gonzaga University men's tennis team fell 5-2 to UC Riverside in Riverside, Calif.
With the loss, Gonzaga falls to 6-9, while the Highlanders improve to 9-3.
Dojcak and Pineda were responsible for both Gonzaga points in the match. Pineda posted a two-set victory over Bobby Tam at the No. 4 singles positions (6-2, 7-6). Dojcak earned a win over UCR's Joe Cartledge in three sets (3-6, 6-2, 6-4). In other singles play, Bryce Cooper fell at the No. 1 position to Mark Contreras (6-1, 6-2) and Brett Womack feel to Gorjan Kovacevic at the No. 3 spot (6-4, 6-4). Rounding out singles play in the No. 5 and No. 6 positions was Cooper Fratt and Zack Radetzky, respectively. Fratt fell to Hakop Tadevosain (7-5, 6-1), while Radetzky fell to Peana (6-1, 7-5).
In doubles play, the Bulldog duo of Cooper and Dojcak earned a victory at No. 3 over Pedraum Rouhafza and Tadevosian (8-5). At No. 1, Womack and Radetzky fell to Contreras and Cartledge (8-3). Pineda and Charles Adams feel to Tam and Peana at the No. 2 position (8-6) to finish doubles play.
Gonzaga will rest Wednesday before taking on West Coast Conference foe Loyola Marymount University Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
