Gonzaga Men's Tennis Last In WCC Championship

MALIBU, Calif. - Gonzaga University's men's tennis team finished eighth in the West Coast Conference Championship after dropping a 4-2 decision to the University of San Francisco Sunday in the match for seventh and eighth at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center on the Pepperdine University campus.
Gonzaga finished 0-3 in the WCC Champiopnship, 7-14 overall for the season. The Bulldogs were the No. 7 seed into the championship, USF the No. 8 seed.
Gonzaga's points came at No. 2 singles where Eduardo Kohlberg took a 6-4, 6-2 win over Brad White, and in doubles where the Bulldogs picked up the point when Timo Barry-Joe Zavaglia won at No. 2 doubles and Kohlberg-Joel Wilkie were victorious at No. 3 singles.
Top seed Pepperdine won its 11th consecutive team title by defeating No. 2 seed University of San Diego by a final score of 4-2. By virtue of the win, the No. 19 ranked Waves earned the league's automatic berth to the 64-team NCAA Championships. Santa Clara University secured third place with a 4-2 win over the University of Portland, the Pilots taking fourth. Loyola Marymount University defeated Saint Mary's College by a 4-1 count to finish fifth, while SMC finished sixth.
