WROW: Three Zags Named to WCC Preseason Team

The Bulldogs were also chosen to finish second

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Three Gonzaga Bulldogs were chosen to the All-West Coast Confernece Rowing Team and the Zags were chosen to finish second in the preseason coaches poll. 

The coaches' poll and preseason all-conference team were selected solely by a vote of the conference's 10 head coaches. Coaches cannot vote for their own teams and student-athletes. 

Oregon State was once again selected as the conference's preseason favorite after garnering nine first-place votes for 81 total points. Gonzaga came in second with one first-place vote for a total of 70 points. Washington State placed third in the preseason poll with 68 points. 

The All-West Coast Conference Preseason Rowing Team is made up of 24 student-athletes from the Conference's 10 institutions. Among the preseason team honorees is the 2025 West Coast Conference Rower of the Year Rhianna Loughnan of Oregon State. Eleven honorees from the 2025 All-West Coast Conference Team made this year's preseason team, as well - Tulla Angeley (Oregon State), Giulia Clerici (Oregon State), Kaylee Godwin (Sacramento State), Annika Goodwyn (San Diego), Paige Harty (Creighton), Grace Kaufmann (San Diego), Charlotte Lightfoot (Oregon State), Loughnan, Siena Snow (Washington State), Harriet Thompson (Washington State) and Lily Zeimetz (Creighton).

Oregon State led the way with four members on the preseason team. Gonzaga and Washington State collected three players each on the preseason team. The preseason team is comprised of voting results from the coaches preseason poll. The first place team gets four members, while the second and third place teams each earn three honorees. Every other team gets two selections. 

The 2026 rowing season begins Saturday, March 7. The 2026 West Coast Conference Rowing Championships will once again be held at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center from May 15-16.
