Gonzaga Shuts Out Washington State, 9-0

The Bulldogs won the season series over the Cougars, 3-1

SPOKANE, Wash. – Backed by six shutout innings from Michael Cunneely, Gonzaga baseball clinched the season series over Washington State with a 9-0 win on Tuesday at Patterson Baseball Complex and Coach Steve Hertz Field. The Bulldogs won three out of the four meeting with the Cougars this season, including each of the last two.

Gonzaga (24-24) scored early and often on Tuesday, starting with a two-run second in which Rece Schuerman blasted his second home run in as many games. Max Coupe singled earlier in the inning before Schuerman sent his ball out to left field.

A pair of two-run innings in the fourth and fifth put GU up 6-0 over Washington State (18-33). Sam Stem split the left-center gap for a two-out, two-run double to close the fifth.

Cunneely (W, 2-2) threw six strong innings to keep the Cougars off the board, striking out six while allowing just three hits and two walks. Ryan Hernandez worked two scoreless innings in relief, and Gabe Brabec shut the door with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.

The Bulldogs pounded 11 hits led by Ty Yukumoto (2-for-4, 2 RBI, 2B), Tommy Eisenstat (2-for-5, R), and Rece Schuerman (2-for-3, 3 RBI, R, HR, BB). Stem added three runs batted in with a 1-for-2, two-walk performance.

Gonzaga finishes the 2025 season with a 9-9 home record, including 8-4 in West Coast Conference play.
