Polo Bodart places eighth at even-par
SALEM, Ore. – The Gonzaga men's golf team placed fifth at the Oregon State Invitational at Illahe Hills Country Club Wednesday.
The Zags were 16-over as a team with a team total of 880 over the two-day 54-hole event. GU led the 14-team tournament with 185 pars. The Bulldogs closed with their lowest round at even-par (E) on the final day.
Guillermo Polo Bodart led the team with an eighth-place finish. The senior was even-par (216), after carding a 71 (-1) in Round, a 70 (-2) in the second round, and a 75 (+3) in Round 3. His first round featured two birdies and 13 pars, and he made four birdies and 12 pars in Round 2. The Argentinian made 39 pars in the tournament, which was fourth in the 80-golfer field.
Michael Vienneau continued his strong start to his freshman season with an 18th-place finish at three-over (219). He was three-under (69) in the final round. The Austin, Texas, native, made 41 pars in the event, which ranked third.
Jayden Lizama and Ethan Flynn both made 39 pars in the event as well. Lizama was also fourth in the tournament averaging even-par (3.0) on the course's Par-3 holes. He finished 21st at four-over (220). The freshman's final round included two birdies and 13 pars. Flynn tied for 48th at 10-over (226).
Charlie Olson was 70th at 16-over (232). Daniel Kim competed as an individual and placed 76th at 23-over (239).
Cole Rueck led Boise State to the team title with a first-place individual finish. He was four-under (212) and held off Utah Valley's Paxton Maxwell and Arizona State's Boston Bracken who were both three-under (213).
Boise State finished one-over (865) as a team, while Oregon State was second at eight-over (872) and Cal Baptist was third at 10-over (874).
Gonzaga closes its fall schedule at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic in Lahaina, Hawaii, Oct. 27-29. Live scoring will be available on GoZags.com.
