Zags finish sixth as a team in Sacramento
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Gonzaga women's golfer Grace Lee had another Top-5 finish tying for fourth at the Causeway Invitational hosted by UC Davis at the Del Paso Country Club Tuesday.
Lee had her third Top-5 finish of the season, and her fourth Top-10 finish, carding a 71 (-1) in the final round. Her lowest round of the event featured three birdies and 13 pars. She climbed 15 spots on the leaderboard in Round 3. The sophomore was three-over (75) and one-over (73) in the first two rounds.
Gonzaga was 36-over (900) as a team. The Bulldogs' 168 pars were the most in the 12-team field. GU opened the tournament with a 295 (+7), before a 303 (+15) in the second round, and finishing with a 302 (+14) in Round 3.
Chaewon Baek tied for ninth at four-over (220) for her third Top-10 finish of the season. She led the 72-golfer field with 42 pars. The junior made 13 pars in the final round, along with a birdie. Baek made 14 pars in Round 1 and 15 more in the second round. She opened the tournament carding a 72 (E).
Esther Yoo also carded a 72 (E) in the first round. She tied for 23rd at 11-over (227). Vanessa Zhang (+18, 234) and Taylor Mularski (+30, 246) were 50th and 66th.
Sneha Sharan of Sacramento State took medalist honors. She won a tiebreaker over Nevada's Leah John with her third round of 71 (-1). Sharan rose 10 spots in the final round with the score. Both Sharan and John were one-over (217) in the tournament.
Sacramento State placed first at 14-over (878), while UC Davis was second at 19-over (883).
Gonzaga is at the Low Country Invitational March 15-17. The tournament in Hilton Head, S.C., is hosted by Wofford. Live stats will be available on GoZags.com.
