
Guermali and O’Leary Take 5K and 10K Titles at SFCC

Zags open Northwest Scoring Clash with wins
SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga's Yacine Guermali and Ciaran O'Leary placed first in the 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters at the Northwest Scoring Clash, also known as the WAR 12, at Spokane Falls Community College Friday.
Guermali opened the evening for the Zags with a time of 14:51.85, ahead of teammate Phillip Fishburn's 14:57.60 second-place finish. Daniel Thompson (15:18.84) and Kyle Thompson (15:28.21) were fifth and eighth.
Four Bulldogs placed inside the Top-10 in the 10,000 meters, and all finished with personal records. O'Leary led the pack in first at 31:03.34. Dominic Arce was fourth with a time of 31:35.02, while Bradley Rzewnicki (31:42.75) and Sam McCloughan (31:57.91) were sixth and eighth.
Michaela Bruns, Alex Cerveny and Brianna Vasquez open Day 2 at the Northwest Scoring Clash for GU in the women's 1,500 meters at 9:50 a.m. The Zags end the day in the women's 1,600-meter relay at 3:25 p.m.
