Zags’ senior tied for 30th entering final round
UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – Gonzaga's Tyler Munetake carded back-to-back rounds of 70 (-1) in the first and second rounds of the Seattle University Redhawk Invitational Monday.
Munetake is two-under (140) entering Tuesday's third and final round on the Chambers Bay Golf Course. He made the third-most pars on Day 1, making 13 in the first and second rounds. The senior made four birdies in the first round and three birdies in the second round.
As a team, GU is 17th at 10-over (578). The Zags were nine-under (4.40) on the course's Par-5 holes. The Bulldogs made 54 pars through the first 36 holes.
Charlie Magruder is tied for 65th at three-over (145). After making four birdies in the first round, he made five in the second round. Nick Nolan and Grant Johnson are both tied for 78th at five-over (147). Nolan is two-under (2.50) on Par-3 holes, while Johnson made 12 pars. Holden Backes eagled the first hole in Round 2, and is eight-over (150) entering the third round. He had back-to-back rounds of 75 (+4) in the first and second rounds.
UCLA's Hidetoshi Yoshihara has a six-stroke lead on the 102-golfer field. He is 13-under (129), following a 62 (-9) in Round 2. The Bruins are in first place at 31-under (537). Fresno State is second with a 541 total (-27).
