LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. — Gonzaga women's golf had three finishers inside the top 25 and posted a solid final round to move up to fifth on Tuesday at the Pat Bradley Invitational in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.
Playing the par-72 Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club, Gonzaga fired the third-best final-round score of the tournament with a one-over 289 to move from eighth to fifth as a team. Two GU players went under par in the final round with both Jessica Mangrobang and Federica Torre posting 71s (-1) on the day.
Individually, sophomore Quynn Duong capped off a 13th-place finish with a final-round 74 (+2) to finish at even-par for the tournament. Torre placed 21st overall with a +3 total, while Mangrobang was tied for 24th at +4.
"This team is a bunch of fighters and played hard all day," head coach Brad Rickel said. "They are tired from four days of very hot, humid weather, but just kept marching forward. I am proud of how they moved up on the final day. We never really found our footing on the Bermuda greens after not having a practice round day."
Freshmen Alyssa Nguyen and Cassie Kim were each near par as well with Nguyen firing a 73 (+1) and Kim a 74 (+2) in the final round. Nguyen placed in a tie for 31st at +6, while Kim finished tied for 47th at +10 for the tournament.
Overall, Gonzaga was second in par-4 scoring at an average of 4.09 and third in Par-3 scoring at 3.15 for the tournament. GU led the field in totals pars at 192, five more than the next highest total.
The tournament also marks the end of Gonzaga's four-tournament fall slate with two wins and a top-five. The Zags will be back on the course late January at the Mission Hills Invitational in Mission Hills, California.
