The UW Invitational: The UW Invitational will once again assemble excellent fields of collegiate talent plus many of the nation's elite professionals, with several U.S. Olympians scheduled to compete this weekend. Stanford, California, Portland, Montana, Boise State, Washington State, Washington, Idaho, Utah State, Arizona, Seattle, Weber State, Bradley, Southern Utah, Northern Arizona, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Arkansas, Oregon State and Gonzaga are just some of the schools that will be present.
Last season at the meet: Scott Kopczynski and Brandon Pollard were first and second in the third section of the men's mile … Kopczynski's time of 4:06.56 is the second-fastest time in program history … Pollard crossed the line at 4:08.46, followed closely by Jake Perrin in 28th at 4:08.99. Perrin's time ranks sixth all-time at GU and was second in his section … Peter Hogan placed third in his heat of the men's 5,000 meters with the sixth-fastest time in program history … Ben Hogan and Yacine Guermali ran personal records in the men's 3,000 meters … Claire Manley crossed the line at 10:26.95 in the women's 3,000 meters … Four current indoor Gonzaga records were set at the meet, along with several other Top-10 marks.
Last week: At the WSU Indoor Open, the Zags dominated the men's mile, sweeping the top three spots and placing six runners inside the Top-10 … Ben Hogan led the pack of GU runners in first at 4:21.64 … Cullen McEachern (4:22.76) and David Connell (4:25.89) were second and third … Scott Kopczynski shared the men's 800-meter title with a time of 1:54.66 … In the men's 3,000 meters, Dominic Arce came in second place at 8:43.79 … Matthew Roberts was not far behind in fifth place at 9:04.30 … In the women's 400 meters, Morgan Greene came in seventh place with a time of 1:02.33 … Claire Gillett placed fifth in the women's 800 meters at 2:22.51. Erin Boyle had a seventh place finish in the women's mile at 5:35.84 … Gonzaga's women's 4x400-meter relay team of Brianna Vasquez, Gillett, Greene and Emma Flood finished in fifth place with a time of 4:20.18.
