
Men's Golf Earns President’s Special Recognition

Zags boasted a 3.55 GPA in the Spring Term
NORMAN, Okla. – The Gonzaga men's golf team was named a Golf Coaches Association of America All-Academic Team Thursday.
The Bulldogs were among 187 programs across the NCAA Div. I level to receive the honor. GU was one of only 25 Div. I programs to earn President's Special Recognition status for having team GPAs of 3.5 or better. The Zags boasted a team GPA of 3.55 in the spring term. It's the third time in program history that Gonzaga earned President's Special Recognition status (2010 and 2016). The Bulldogs were the only program from the West Coast Conference to earn President's Special Recognition status.
To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors a college or university must submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list for the academic year. Teams with a GPA between 3.0 and 3.5 were named All-Academic.
New Mexico (Division I), Bellarmine (Division II), Swarthmore (Division III), Bethel (KS) (NAIA), Dodge City (NJCAA DI) and South Mountain (NJCAA DII) have been named 18Birdies Academic National Champions for their respective divisions.
South Mountain posted the highest overall team GPA for all divisions with a 3.78. A record number 223 teams submitted GPAs of 3.00 or higher to earn 18Birdies All-Academic Team recognition.
