SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Gonzaga women's golfers Bianca Pagdanganan and Ciera Min were selected to the All-West Coast Conference First Team on Tuesday, the conference office announced. The teams and major award winners were voted on solely by the league's head coaches.
The two represented Gonzaga on the All-WCC team for the second consecutive year. Min is the first golfer in program history to be named All-WCC all four years at GU.
Pagdanganan was selected co-Freshman of the Year and First Team All-WCC in her freshman season last year. She was named the WCC Golfer of the Month for the month of March and recently finished 11th at the WCC Championships last week, the top finisher for GU.
She shot a tournament, course, school, and West Coast Conference record 61 in her second round at the Pizza Hut Thunderbird Invitational in March, tying the NCAA women's golf single-round record, held by Esther Lee of Colorado and Mariah Stackhouse of Stanford. She won the tournament, her second career win, with a program-record score of 130 (-14). It is the first individual win for the Zags this season and the team finished second, their best finish this year. She led the team with a 73.07 stroke average.
She tied her career-low 54-hole score of 213 at the Silverado Showdown where she finished ninth. She has recorded seven of Gonzaga's 16 rounds below par this year and was the Zags' top finisher six times. She owns the three lowest GU rounds this year (61, 66, 67) and has finished under par in an event four times. She is currently ranked 103rd in the nation by Golfweek.
Senior Ciera Min was selected First Team All-WCC last year and All-WCC the two seasons prior, as there was no team designation for those years. She finished just a spot and stroke behind Pagdanganan last week at the WCC Championships in 12th place. Min was second on the team with a 74.21 stroke average.
She has finished among the top five three times this year, including second-place finishes at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic and Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational. She has shot below par in seven of her 28 stroke play rounds, scoring in the 60s twice, and been the Zags' top finisher four times. She was selected WCC All-Academic for the third-consecutive year with a 3.51 GPA, majoring in psychology. She is currently ranked 181st in the nation by Golfweek.
This is the seventh year in a row Gonzaga has placed multiple student-athletes on the All-Conference team.
BYU's Kendra Dalton was voted the Player of the Year, and her coach, Carrie Roberts, is the Coach of the Year. Alex White was the WCC Champion and Momoka Kobori of Pepperdine was voted the Freshman of the Year.
