LAHAINA, Hawaii -- David Ganz paced the Gonzaga men's golf team in the second round of the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational Saturday.
Ganz carded a 70 (-1) in Round 2 of the three-day tournament. He is tied for 26th place with a two-round total of 142 (E). The junior finished with five birdies on the second day. He was even-par on the front-nine and one-under on the back-nine.
Ryan Gaske made 14 pars on Day 2, and finished even (71) in the round. He is tied for 31st at one-over (143) entering the final day. The senior has 25 pars in the tournament.
Angus Montgomery is tied for 69th at six-over (148) after two rounds. The senior had three birdies and finished the second round with a 77 (+6). Ben DuBois was even-par (71) Saturday. He had 12 pars and three birdies and is tied for 81st at seven-over (149). Nick Nolan is 19-over (161) in 125th after an 83 (+12) in Round 2.
Gonzaga is in 13th place entering the final round. The Zags are 14-over (582). GU totaled a 289 (+5) in Round 2.
Georgia leads the team leaderboard at 18-under (550). The No. 15 Bulldogs were 18-under (266) in the second round. They have a 10-stroke lead over second place LSU.
Georgia's Greyson Sigg and Chase Hanna of Kansas are both nine-under (133) atop the team leaderboard. Two golfers sit just a stroke behind.
"The wind wasn't as prevalent today and the scores showed it," GU Head Coach Robert Gray. "Again, we had three good scores, but couldn't produce a fourth moving us five spots down the leaderboard. Ryan and David have posted consistent low scores, but we haven't had that consistency with the rest of the lineup. That can still work out alright if we get four good scores each round, but we've only had three good scores each day. The fourth score has made a huge difference this week, much like the rest of the year.
"With tomorrow being our last round of the season, our goal is to post our best round of the season and getting that elusive fourth solid round."
Gonzaga closes its fall schedule with the third and final round Sunday at 11:30 a.m. Pacific Time. Live scoring will be available on GoZags.com.
