Gonzaga at the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational

ABOUT THE EVENT:
- This is the third annual edition of the tournament.
- The 54-hole, individual and team stroke-play event features golfers from Ball State, Boise State, Bowling Green, Cal State Fullerton, Clemson, CSUN, Georgia, Georgia State, Gonzaga, Hawai'i, Hawai'i-Hilo, Houston, Kansas, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, LSU, Minnesota, North Carolina - Wilmington, North Florida, Oklahoma, Sacramento State, South Carolina, Texas-San Antonio and UC Santa Barbara.
- Oklahoma hoisted the 2015 Team Trophy propelled by freshman, Brad Dalke finishing second place overall, and most of its players return to Ka'anapali this year.
- Oregon, which dominated the inaugural tournament in 2014 with a 33-under par 819, will also challenge this year's title. America's No.1 ranked team, the Ducks set NCAA records on Day 1 in 2014, posting a 30-under par 254 for the lowest single-round score in relation to par and total strokes.
- Tee times are Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 8:30 a.m. (shotgun start) on the Royal Ka'anapali Course.
ABOUT THE COURSE:
- Ka'anapali Golf Courses is built on 300 acres of land once home to Hawaiian royalty, the courses present golfers with pristine conditions and stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and West Maui Mountains.
- Opened in 1962 and designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., the Royal Ka'anapali Course features wide fairways and undulating greens which make it both distinctive and demanding.
- The tournament-tested layout hosted the Champions Tour Ka'anapali Classic for 14 years, Shell's Wonderful World of Golf, the Canada Cup and LPGA Kemper Open, welcoming Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Billy Casper, Greg Norman, Fred Couples, Jan Stephenson, Betsy King and other legends.
- Complementing the Royal Ka'anapali Course is the modernized Ka'anapali Kai Course which hosted Golf Channel's "Big Break Ka'anapali."
- Extensively renovated in 2005, the 6,400-yard, par-70 layout boasts an array of strategically placed bunkers, contoured fairways and resurfaced greens.
FAST START IN PEBBLE BEACH:
- Gonzaga jumped out to a great start at the Saint Mary's Invitational last week.
- The Zags were tied for first place after the first round of the tournament.
- GU totaled a 290 team round and was six-over par.
- Tyler Munetake led the Bulldogs through the first 18 holes after he carded a 71 (E). He was tied for third place on the leaderboard.
- Just a stroke behind, David Ganz is tied for sixth at one-over (72).
- Ryan Gaske finished the tournament in a tie for 13th at eight-over (221).
- The Zags ended in a tie for 10th at 48-over (900).
