ABOUT THE EVENT:
- The Saint Mary's men's golf program will host the annual Saint Mary's Invitational for the 10th time overall and the 9th straight year.
- This year's field includes 15 schools and 84 golfers. Eight WCC programs will be in the tournament.
- For the first time since 2009, the event will take place at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach, Calif.
- The tournament has featured nine different team champions during its decade of existence.
- The University of San Diego won last year's event with an even par 864 and Toreros senior Mathias Dahl claimed medalist honors with a 7-under par 209.
- The University of Oregon owns the tournament's 54-hole team scoring record at 11-under par 853, while CSU Northridge's Chris Russo set the low tournament total at 9-under 207.
- SMC's Ben Geyer owns the low round of the tournament with a 7-under par 65 in the 2012 final round.
ABOUT THE COURSE:
- Poppy Hills became the first course to be owned and operated by a golf association in the U.S. when the Northern California Golf Association built it to serve as its headquarters and tournament home.
- Opened on June 1, 1986, the Robert Trent Jones Jr. design has since co-hosted the PGA Tour's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am from 1991 through 2009, as well as the Spalding Pebble Beach Invitational (1989, 1990, 1992, 1993) and 1991 NCAA Men's Championships.
- Jonathan De Los Reyes owns the course record at 6-under 65.
PRESEASON EXPECTATIONS:
- Sean Walsh was named to the 2015 preseason All-West Coast Conference team.
- Walsh enters his senior season after a stellar summer which recently ended with his third straight appearance in the U.S. Amateur Championship.
- This is the second straight preseason All-WCC honor for the Keller, Texas native.
- Walsh was named All-WCC honorable mention for the second straight season in 2015.
- He finished tied for 10th at the 2015 WCC Championships, and 11th in 2014.
- Walsh was named All-WCC in 2013, after being named the Conference Freshman of the Year with a third place finish at the conference championships.
TAKING A LOOK AT THE ROSTER:
- Sean Walsh is the lone senior on the six-man roster, while Tyler Munetake is the only freshman.
- Munetake and Ryan Gaske are the newcomers to the lineup. Walsh brings three years of experience at GU.
- No two players are from the same state. Gaske (Australia) and Gus Montgomery (England) from outside the U.S.
