SPOKANE, Wash.--Gonzaga University women's golf coach Brad Rickel rounded out his roster Monday, adding redshirt senior transfer Michelle Condry to the team.
Condry comes to Gonzaga from the University of San Francisco, where she graduated with a finance degree in May. She'll use her final year of athletic eligibility to represent the Bulldogs while working towards a Masters of Business Administration.
"I recruited Michelle when she was in high school and always liked her; she has a great, upbeat personality," said Rickel of his newest player. "We're very excited to bring her experience and maturity as a grad student into our team. She'll be a voice with four years of college golf experience. I know she's itching to have one great year before she's done, and we're looking forward to giving her that opportunity."
With her experience on and off the course, Rickel looks for Condry to help serve as a leader for the women's golf program this season. She will be one of two seniors on the squad - along with returner Raychelle Santos - and brings plenty of collegiate experience north to Spokane.
"Michelle will be a leader, not only with experience, but with age and enthusiasm," Rickel said. "It's like a freshman year for her, but a freshman year where she has a lot of knowledge already stored up. Her passion and experience is going to really help out our team."
During her final year at USF, Condry played in three events, tying for fifth at the Rose City Intercollegiate and helping the Dons finish second in the team competition. The Honolulu, Hawaii, native also played at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational and the Bay Area Intercollegiate last season. As a freshman in 2011-12, she earned First Team All-WCC Honors after leading the team in stroke average and posting four top-10 finishes.
Condry is also a cousin of former Zag Alice Kim, who wrapped up her GU career last season.
"I am grateful to Coach Rickel for giving me this amazing opportunity to join his team and represent GU," said Condry. "I am excited for the new experiences GU has to offer. Most of all, I can't wait to become part of the Zag family. Go Zags!"
Condry is the third new addition to the roster, joining incoming freshmen Jena Gao and Bianca Pagdanganan. The other three Bulldog women's golfers - Santos, Ciera Min, and Dania Uy - return from last year's squad.
