Women's Rowing Hosts Washington State Saturday

SPOKANE, Wash. -
ON TAP: The Gonzaga University women's rowing team continues its spring season Saturday hosting Washington State University in a dual on Silver Lake in Medical Lake, Wash.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: Racing for the Gonzaga University versus Washington State University dual runs from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Saturday.
Here is the schedule:
9 a.m. - Novice 8+
9:15 a.m. - Varsity 8+
9:30 a.m. - Varsity 4+
9:45 a.m. - Second Varsity 4+
10 a.m. - Second Varsity 8+/Third Varsity 8+
10:15 a.m. - Second Novice 8+/Third Novice 8+
GONZAGA AND WASHINGTON STATE COMING OFF NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP APPEARANCES: Both the Gonzaga University women's rowing team and the Washington State University women's rowing squad participated in the 2013 NCAA Rowing Championships. For the Bulldogs, it was their first-ever appearance in the championship, while the Cougars made it for the seventh time in school history. Gonzaga ended the championship 19th overall and Washington State finished 14th.
LAST TIME VERSUS WASHINGTON STATE: Washington State University won all six races against Gonzaga University in 2013. That dual took place on the Cougars home water of Wawawai Landing in Pullman, Wash. WSU earned an 18-second victory over GU in the marquee Varsity 8+ race. The Cougars crossed the finish line in 7:46.11, followed by the Zags at 8:04.98. It was a similar finish in the Second Varsity 8+, with Washington State claiming first with a time of 7:58.55. Gonzaga ended the course in 8:15.79.
HEAD COACH GLENN PUTYRAE'S THOUGHTS ON THE DUAL WITH WASHINGTON STATE: "Annual race with Washington State and we are excited about the opportunity to race the Cougars on our home course. The last few years they definitely have had the better of us. We had a great week in Sacramento it; it has been an adjustment getting back to Spokane and the cooler conditions but I think the athletes are excited at the opportunity their best compares to Washington State."
ASSISTANT COACH MARCI ROBLES' THOUGHTS ON THE VARSITY 4's: "We're really looking forward to racing Washington State. Their Varsity 4+ had a great season last year - finishing 6th in the country - so we're excited about the opportunity to see how our depth stacks up. Both fours had solid races in Oregon and Sacramento, and we hope to see more speed this weekend."
ASSISTANT COACH KARI DURGAN'S THOUGHTS ON THE NOVICES: "The novices had a great start to their racing season last weekend and we are looking forward to seeing what they do to build upon that progress. It will be fun for them to row at home for the first time and interesting to see how they hold up under some pressure."

Take Interstate 90 West to Exit 272 (WA 902) Medical Lake Exit
Turn right onto WA-901 (West Medical Lake Road)
Follow Medical Lake Road 5.25 miles
Turn left onto North Stanley Road (Conoco station at corner)
Follow North Stanley Road for half a mile
Turn right onto East Lake Road
Follow East Lake Road for one block
Turn left onto North Hallett Road
Follow North Hallett Road 2.25 miles
Road ends at Silver Lake Camp
