
XC Travels to Notre Dame, Montana

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga's cross country teams will take on some of the nation's this weekend with the top seven men headed to the Notre Dame Invitational and a squad of women and men competing at the Montana Open.
The top seven men will face 23 regionally-ranked teams in Blue Race of the Notre Dame Invite in South Bend on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. PDT. The Blue Race on the men's side features seven top-25 teams including No. 3 BYU, No. 16 North Carolina State, No. 18 Tulsa, No. 20 Princeton, No. 23 Eastern Kentucky, No. 24 Florida State and No. 25 Colorado State.
"It's a great opportunity for us to go make a statement," head men's coach Pat Tyson said. "We competed really well against Navy last weekend, and I think we're ready to go."
The Zags are coming off of a solid showing in a dual meet at home with Navy, swiping two of the top three individual spots. Senior Robert Walgren placed second, covering 8,000 meters in 25:10.72, while Troy Fraley was third with a time of 25:11.49.
A solid group of Zags will travel to the University of Montana on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. for the women and 11:15 p.m. for the men.
The women's crew is coming off of a second-place showing at home last weekend at the Erik Anderson Invitational. They were led by Zoë Urcadez, who finished in sixth with a 5,000-meter time of 19:19.21. Lara Tuthill also collected a top-10 finish, placing eighth at 19:42.10.
