Tanaka Loses Quarterfinal Match

HONOLULU - Gonzaga University junior Reyn Tanaka lost his quarterfinal match Friday in the 98th Manoa Cup at the Hawaiian Amateur Match Play Championship played at Oahu Country Club.

Tanaka, who qualified 13th during stroke play competition earlier in the week, lost 2 and 1 to 12th-seeded Jonathan Ota. Tanaka, who hails from Kailua, had defeated No. 52 Michael Miguel 7 and 5; No. 20 Isaac Jaffurs 3 and 2, and No. 61 Samuel Rodriguez III 2 and 1 to earn his spot in the quarterfinals.
