ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. - Gonzaga University improved one spot to ninth and the Bulldogs Trevor Loe climbed seven spots to finish tied for 20th at the Cuesta Title/Cal Poly Intercollegiate men's golf tournament on Friday.
Loe shot a final-round 71 over the 6,761-yard, par 72 Cypress Ridge Golf Course layout to finish with a 54-hole total of 219 and a five-way tie for 20th. His 71 was the best Gonzaga round of the tournament.
Travis Bertoni of host Cal Poly shot a final-round 69 to claim medalist honors at 207 and a 2-stroke win over Cory Renfrew of the University of British Columbia, who posted back-to-back 69's for the final 36 holes.
Gonzaga shot a final-round 290 for its best 18-hole score of the tournament and finished ninth with an 893. Cal State Bakersfield easily took the team title with an 857 for a 14-stroke victory over UBC.
