CLARKSTON, Wash. - Gonzaga University's men's golf team made its first outing of the spring season Monday, Jimmy Hayes finishing tied for sixth for the Bulldogs in the Inland Collegiate Cup.
Hayes fired a 73 over the 6,770-yard, par 72 Clarkston Country Club layout to tie with five others in the 18-hole tournament.
Gonzaga had a 382 to finish last in the four-team tournament that was won by Washington State University at 363.
Chad Carlson of WSU, competing as an individual rather than a scoring member of the Cougars, took medalist honors with a 69 for a 2-stroke win over teammate Kevin Chen and the University of Idaho's Christian Akau.
The Bulldogs will compete at the Braveheart Classic in Beaumont, Calif., hosted by UC Riverside next Monday and Tuesday.
