Manwaring Tied For Second At Bobcat Desert Classic

GOODYEAR, Ariz. - Gonzaga University freshman Lacey Jo Manwaring fired an even par 72 on Monday and stands in a seven way tie for second place at the 2005 Bobcat Desert Classic in Goodyear, Ariz. Manwaring was one-under on the front nine before going one-over on the back nine to finish at 72. Jody Chandonnet of Grand Canyon College holds one-stroke lead on the field with a first-round 71.
The Bulldogs are ninth as a team following the first round with a team score of 312 which is one stroke behind Sacramento State for eighth and one stroke ahead of Portland for 10th. Idaho leads the 19 team field with a 294 followed by Western Michigan at 298.
Following Manwaring for Gonzaga were Sarah Sheffield in a tie for 27th at five-over, Mary Kate Morgan in a tie for 55th with an 81, Jennifer Swanson in a tie at 61st with an 82 and Sarah Clarke in a tie for 76th with an 84. Play resumes Tuesday at the 6,050 yard Palm Valley Golf Course.
