SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Gonzaga University's women's golf team shot a season-best 309 Tuesday to finish 10th at the Taylormade/adidas Lady Aztec hosted by San Diego State University.
The Bulldogs finished with a 54-hole total of 948, just one stroke behind West Coast Conference foe University of Portland in ninth.
Sarah Sheffield, who was tied for 12th after Monday's 36 holes, shot a 78 Tuesday to slip into a four-way tie for 17th. Mary Kate Morgan rebounded from a pair of 79s on Monday to shoot a 75 and tie for 25th, and Lauren Phillips, who struggled Monday with an 84-89, came back with the second-best round of the fall for the women with a 73 over the 6,259-yard, par 72 The Auld layout.
The host Lady Aztecs captured the team title with a 906 for a 10-stroke victory over Sacramento State University. Margaux Sheehan of Sac State took medalist honors at 217 with rounds of 68-75-74 for a five-stroke win over Mary Betancourt of Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Jennifer Yoo of Cal State Northridge.
Tuesday's play completed the fall season for the Bulldogs.
