SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Sarah Sheffield put together two of her better rounds of the season Monday, shooting a 36-hole score of 152 to tie for 12th after the first day of the Taylormade/adidas Lady Aztec women's golf tournament.
Sheffield toured the 6,259-yar, par 72 The Auld Course layout in 78-74 and is in a five-way tie for 12th entering Tuesday's final round.
Margaret Sheehan of Sacramento State University is the leader at 143 after rounds of 68-75, good for a one-stroke lead over Ali Carter of Northern Arizona University who shot a pair of 72's.
Mary Kate Morgan was the only other Bulldog to break 80, shooting two rounds of 79 for a 158 and 34th place.
Gonzaga is 12th in the team standings at 639. Host San Diego State University is in the lead at 605 for a two-stroke lead over Sacramento State.
Other Bulldog scored were Lacey Jo Manwaring 162, Sarah Clarke 169 and Lauren Phillips 173.
