SALT LAKE CITY, Utah- The Gonzaga University women's soccer team fell to No. 24 Utah 2-1 on Sunday at Ute Field.
Utah claimed the first goal of the match in the 21st minute as Kim Lloyd was able to beat Bulldog goalkeeper Ashley Haugen to the lower left corner of the goal to give the Utes a 1-0 early advantage.
The Zags evened things in the 75th minute as Rachael Manning took a pass from Sarah Hawkins and slipped the ball to the lower left corner of the net beating Utah goalkeeper Ashley Mason.
The Utes scored the final goal of the match in the 82nd minute when Chelsea Card put the ball to the lower right corner just out of the reach of Haugen.
Haugen recorded six saves for the Bulldogs as the Utes took 20 shots to just six for the Bulldogs. Mason had two saves as she picked up the win for Utah.
The Utes had the territorial advantage with a 13-1 edge in corner kicks.
The Zags will be back in action on Friday as they open up their home schedule with a 3 p.m. match against Utah State.
