Syverson's 70 Paces Bulldog Men's Golf

GOODYEAR, Ariz. - Adam Syverson shot a final-round 2-under-par 70 Tuesday to finish tied for 10th to help Gonzaga University to a seventh-place finish in the Grand Canyon Thundberbid Invitational men's golf tournament.

The Bulldogs, tied with West Coast Conference foe University of Portland for ninth place heading into Tuesday's final 18 holes, improved two spots to seventh to finish at 876, one stroke behind WCC rival Loyola Marymount University in sixth place. Syverson shot rounds of 74-71-70 to finish 1-uner-par 215 over the par 72, 7,015-yard Palm Valley Golf Course.

Cal State Bakersfield shot even par for the final round and 13-under for the tournament en route to winning for the second consecutive year. The University of Idaho shot 8-under for the day to finish in a tie for second with tournament host Grand Canyon University at 862 (2-under). Idaho was led by Bill Witte, who shot a 69 for the final round and finished at a tournament-best 8-under (208), one shot better than defending tournament champion Bill Noon of Bakersfield.
