
Women's Tennis Named ITA All-Academic Team

Nine Zags were also given All-Academic honors
SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga women's tennis placed nine student-athletes on the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete list and the team was named an ITA All-Academic Team, the ITA announced.
Gonzaga's nine honorees marked the eighth-straight year and 10th time in program history with at least five. Brooke Bittner, Diana Yantovskaya, Ella Nielsen, Emily Robertson, Karla Brown, Madeleine Machenlie, Rose Hayes, Savannah Johnson, Sveva Zerpelloni were all named ITA Scholar-Athletes. The nine honorees tie the program record as well.As a team, 2026 is the eighth-straight year and 13th time in program history earning the ITA All-Academic Team Award.
Within the sport of tennis, student-athletes continue to exceed expectations in the classroom and on the court. In 2026, 1,501 Division I Women's student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes, and 231 Women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements:
- Have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year
- Be listed on the institutional eligibility form
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements:
- Have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale),
- All student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and
- All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year
